Teaching children about germs with a fun story
Earth Day is a known global event every year which is celebrated in more than 192 countries worldwide each year. Did you know that this year marked the 50th anniversary of the event? What might you ask is the purpose of this event? I will tell you, it's in celebration of the movement of the environment and it raises awareness about pollution and how we can save our planet by maintaining a clean world around us.
While we are taking care of our planet, we also need to remember to take care of ourselves. Washing our hands is very important in protecting us from germs that make us sick. Have you ever heard of Gerry Germ? You haven't? I am going to show you him today, I have a secret bottle where they all live. We are going to be doing a fun experiment to show the importance of washing our hands, and not just with water, with soap and why it is so important to use soap every time we wash our hands. Using soap can do magic by scaring Gerry Germ's away!
Have you heard the song about brushing your teeth but Gerry Germ doesn't like it because you are brushing him away? Enjoy singing along if you know the words or you can have some extra fun learning a new song.
Recapping what we learnt about washing our hands, using the imagination to wash our hands and not forgetting about using soap and remembering to rub the germs away between our fingers and on Tommy Thumb, we can't forget about him.
Storytime is always a winner, using our listening ears and looking eyes, sit nice and quiet to listen to the story '10 things I can do to help my world'.
