Sensory and Fine Motor Skills Shape Discovery

Join me, Teacher Tamzin in a fun sensory activity discovering shapes, with some homemade shapes, staying at home and learning is not all that bad. When sitting and planning some lessons, I kept wondering how I will make materials for teaching. I went on a scavenger hunt around the house for some items and ended up discovering that there is so much lying around the house that we can use. I filled a bowl with some rice and threw my homemade shapes into it, mixing it around to hide some of the shapes. I grabbed some tweezers and used them to pick out the shapes, which is so great for our fine motor skills.

Enhancing your child's memory is so important for so many different learning areas, this game is such a great way in practising concentration and paying attention to detail, remembering the items that will soon be covered with a blanket and then be taken away one at a time, encouraging the little minds to try and figure out which item is missing.

Storytime is always a good idea. I love ending my lessons with a story, it relaxes the brain and creates a great calm environment.

Hope you enjoy the video, learning shapes little minds.

Until next time,
