Patterns Activity with Teacher Tamzin and Miya
Join Teacher Tamzin & Miya in an exciting activity where we make patterns with different items that we collected around the house.
We went on a scavenger hunt around the house to find some items for our activity at hand, Miya found this extremely exciting which was awesome as it is always great when a child is so eager to learn, I always say, learning can be fun.
Learning about patterns is beneficial to your child's development as it helps children to start making predictions about what is to come next. Forming patterns also helps a child make logical connections when deciding as to what is going to come next and they put their reasoning skills to good use when engaging in such activities. Patterns are around us everywhere in our daily lives and you will start to see as children learn more about patterns they will then start pointing them out to you in different environments.
There are so many different types of patterns we can make.
Here are some examples:
AAB: Blue, Blue, Yellow
ABAB: Blue, Yellow, Blue, Yellow
ABB: Blue, Yellow, Yellow
ABC: Blue, Yellow, Red
AABB: Blue, Blue, Yellow, Yellow
ABBC: Blue, Yellow, Yellow, Red
ABCD: Blue, Yellow, Red, Green
You don't just have to use items, patterns can be made from using other things too, e.g. body movements (clap, stomp, clap...)
Take a look at the video below for some of the patterns that we made.
Until next time,
